Welcome to the Adelaide Counseling page. This section is for you to have access to resources, FAQs, and some information about our SEL (Social- Emotional Learning) at Adelaide.

I am Nina Meyer, the Adelaide School Counselor. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 5th year at Adelaide. I have been an adolescent counselor for 17 years; working in both the school and clinical setting. I truly enjoy working with scholars, families, & staff to help make school the most comfortable and engaging place it can be!

I love connecting with families! If there is something you would like to share with me, or if you have any questions or concerns about the services I provide, please do not hesitate to give me a call or send me an email!

What does a school counselor do?

My job is to help foster the college/career, social, and emotional development of all scholars. I do this by providing a wide range of direct and indirect scholar services that are specifically designed to have a positive impact on scholar achievement, attendance, and behavior.

Classroom Lessons:
A range of career and social/emotional topics delivered on a rotating schedule to classrooms (the Second Step Curriculum)
Small Group Counseling:
A range of social/emotional topics delivered across a four to eight week span to a small group of scholars (3-6) in need of additional support.
Individual Counseling:
Delivered on an as-needed basis to scholars who need additional support for a range of issues. Scholars can ask to see me or be referred by school staff or families.
Lunch Visits:
Students can request to eat lunch in my office as a way to connect with me and other scholars in a smaller, casual setting.

SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) Info:

  • What is PBIS?

  • Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a schoolwide systems approach aimed at establishing positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students

  • A key aspect of PBIS is focusing on more positive behaviors and less on negative behaviors. PBIS Rewards makes this fundamental step in PBIS much easier in a schoolwide support setting. With PBIS Rewards, teachers, administrators, and staff can all support student growth and development through acknowledgment of student successes with PBIS expectations

Can I schedule a meeting with you?

Absolutely! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out and we can work together to schedule a meeting.

Are you able to help with food/clothing/other items?

Possibly. While we don’t have a food bank on our campus, we do have connections and resources for these items to help as best we can. Please reach out to myself or the Family Liaison, Mo Solomonov at 253-945-2312 if you need assistance with these items.
